I am a family specialist. I work with families who have teenagers, who struggle emotionally, socially, or with authority. I help families get more of the love, respect, peace, and connection they desire through in-home parent and family coaching services.
My experiential approach involves the healing power of Family Intensives. I have developed framework for the family intensives that take place in your home over two or three days. Family intensives involve facilitated discussions, playing, and sharing meals. We identify and problem solve points of conflict as they come up – in real time.
Families conclude intensives with renewed and strengthened connection, hope, and stamina. Participants have said these intensives are more valuable than six months of weekly family therapy.
I have worked with families in the adolescent therapy treatment and wilderness therapy field and have helped many families make the transition back home. I help parents with leadership and appropriate and loving expectation setting. I help teenagers talk to their parents in a way that their parents want to listen and about how to create opportunities for them to get the peaceful independence they desire.
Experiential Family Intensives
Families in crisis forget to have fun! Play brings about deeper work and we have fun while doing it. Let us build an Experiential Family Intensive that takes advantage of local activities in your area. Activities can range from hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, ziplining, in-door skydiving, bowling, archery, trampolining, ceramics and the arts. We will explore your family’s interests and design a custom, worthwhile experience.
Adventure Family Intensives
Nature provides an opportunity to unplug, calm the nervous system, become present, and move our bodies. Working in nature facilitates a deep and quick connection and understanding that is more difficult to achieve in traditional office visits. Recent research shows families desire more experiential work in nature than any other delivery of family coaching and therapy (Rodriguez, 2020).
Nature as a backdrop has a way to help family members ‘get it.’ We can plan your Family Intensive outdoors locally or in a more remote location, such as the mountains or seaside. Family mountain sports include hiking, skiing, biking, and rafting. Family sea sports experiences include kayaking, paddle boarding, scuba diving, windsurfing, and rollerblading. Intentional activities and facilitated discussions are designed to enhance family communication, problem solving, and connection. You can choose if we camp or take up lodging. Nature serves as a conduit for deep work, as well as deep peace and family enjoyment.
